ABOUT THIS SCHOOL
The rise of online threats, fueled by the rapid growth of misinformation, propaganda, and malicious activities, has spurred an urgent need for advanced detection, analysis, and mitigation techniques. The first edition of the AI for a Secure Society summer school will focus on how AI can used for detecting disinformation, misinformation, hate speech, exploring their manifestations and available tools for combatting them. These topics will be examined across five distinct thematic areas, focusing on pioneering strategies to address the complex array of online threats, spanning the domains of information dissemination, behavioral analysis, and effective countermeasures. Particular emphasis will be placed on different aspects of hate speech and fake news, with a focus on contemporary challenges related to Information Disorder and the impact of social media on warfare and political propaganda campaigns.
Participants will learn how artificial intelligence can be used to identify, analyze, mitigate, and counteract various threats, including misinformation, disinformation, fake news, orchestrated online campaigns, and information warfare.
The Summer School will enable attendees to work on their own projects with the guidance of tutors. These projects will be assessed by a panel of experts at the end of the school. This format will allow attendees to learn from wider keynote speeches, topic-specific talks, and sessions that will help them advance in their chosen projects.
The Summer School will also include social activities that will foster networking among attendees and speakers.
